As the Federal Aviation Administration continues efforts to streamline regulations for commercial drone use, economists predict explosive growth in many other industries.
PricewaterhouseCoopers says drones will soon have a multibillion-dollar impact on the
following industries:
- Infrastructure Monitoring, maintenance and inventory management
- Transportation Delivery of goods
- Security Monitoring of sites and perimeters
- Entertainment and Media New options for advertising, promotions, photography, filming and special effects
- Insurance Expedited claims settlement and fraud investigation
- Telecommunications Tower maintenance, signal monitoring and broadcasting
- Mining Exploration and environmental assessment.
If you are considering using a drone for your business, keep in mind that FAA rules on commercial use, such as pilot certification, differ from recreational rules. Depending on your type of business, you may qualify for a waiver of some of the rules.
Information about lawful drone use can be found at www.faa.gov. Finally, if you use a drone in your business, review your business liability insurance policy for information regarding coverage for drone-related claims, such as bodily injury or property damage caused by the drone.
